Order labs from the chart

A patient's Lab Orders tab now has a single Order labs menu. Choose Order via Junction for an electronic order with tracked status and results, send the patient to Fullscript, or generate a downloadable Lab Requisition PDF as before.

Ordering through Junction is three steps: confirm the patient, select the order set, then review and submit. Filter by lab, search tests by name or code, and switch between Panels and A la carte. The patient's zip code is applied for you, and every test shows its collection method, typical turnaround and lab services fee before you add it. The rail on the right keeps the patient details, the tests in the order and any Ask on Order Entry questions in view, so nothing is missing when you continue to review.

Improved

Every order, from requisition to result

The Lab Orders tab groups orders by month and filters them by In progress, Results and Requisitions. Junction orders show the lab, collection method, date and live status, with a Results ready badge the moment results arrive. Paper requisitions sit in the same list, with Send and View a click away.

Open an order to see everything about it in one place: the results summary with marker count and when they were received, the tests and markers ordered, a timeline from Ordered through Requisition created and Partial results to Completed, and the order's details, including who ordered it and when it last synced. The requisition, labels and collection instructions are attached as documents.

Results you can read at a glance

Open lab report brings up the original document from the lab side by side with its parsed values. Each marker shows its code, value and unit against the reference range, flagged Normal or otherwise, so you can scan a 23-marker panel without reading the PDF line by line.

Mark the report Reviewed when you are done, or archive it. View order takes you back to the order it came from.

Lab ordering changes

  • One menu to order. Junction, Fullscript and lab requisitions all start from Order labs.
  • Know before you add. Collection method, turnaround and fee are shown on every test, with the patient's zip code applied.
  • Status you don't have to chase. Each order carries a timeline that updates as the lab moves it along.
  • Documents on the order. Requisitions, labels and collection instructions live with the order they belong to.
  • Values against ranges. Results are parsed marker by marker and plotted against their reference ranges.
  • Unstick an order. If an order looks stuck, Resend updates asks Junction to redeliver its latest status.

Brand and generic names side by side

Search for a medication by its brand or generic name. Add medication lists names first, each marked Brand or Generic. A brand shows its generic underneath, and a generic lists its brands. Choose a name to see its strengths and forms in the next column, with readable names like Adderall 10 mg Oral Tablet, so the wrong formulation or dose is harder to pick.

The dose and route are filled in from the product you choose. If the strength isn't known, chart the name on its own. To correct a medication already on the chart, choose Change when editing it.

Names on the left, strengths and forms on the right.

Medication changes

  • Brand or generic, either way. Search by whichever name you know. Brands show their generic, generics list their brands.
  • Names, then strengths. Pick a name first, then its strength and form in the next column.
  • Readable products. Strengths read like Adderall 10 mg Oral Tablet, not a raw code.
  • Dose and route filled in. Both come from the product you choose.
  • Name only when you need it. If the strength isn't known, chart the name on its own.

A simpler visit dock

The dock at the bottom of a visit now shows what kind of visit it is, Video call or In person, with its status underneath: when a video call starts, when it's live, or that you're ready to record. To switch between video and in person, use Edit visit.

You can record video visits too. The record button sits next to Join a call, beside the transcription setting and the button that copies the patient's link to the call. Hover over any of them for a short explanation.
