Ona Health
Patient Portal

Everything the patient needs, one login.

A modern patient portal: upcoming visits, documents, prescriptions, messages, and their food journal — all in a clean, mobile-first interface.

  • Book and reschedule
  • Complete intake, sign consents
  • Secure messaging
  • Payments and invoices

Most patient portals feel like they were designed to punish their users. Six tabs, three passwords, and a 2004 Bootstrap theme — no wonder the most common support ticket is “how do I log into the portal.”

Ona's patient portal is a single web app — mobile-first, calm, and fast — where everything the patient needs already lives. Book, pay, message, intake, chart, journal — one login, one home screen, one less thing for your front desk to re-explain every day.

Patient portal
The patient's home in the app — next visit, messages, pending tasks, their journal — in one scroll.

01 · Why it matters

The portal is the relationship between visits.

Most of a patient's year with you happens outside the visit. The portal is where it lives.

Patients need a way to reach you, read their results, pay their bill, and stay on track between appointments — without calling the front desk for every step.

A good portal makes the relationship feel close at hand. Bad ones feel like a filing cabinet with a broken login. We're aiming for the first kind — and being deliberate about what we keep out so the surface stays calm.

02 · What you get

One login, the whole relationship.

Booking and rescheduling, self-serve

Patients book new visits from the public booking page and manage the appointments they already have from inside their account.

Records, results, documents

Lab results from the connected dispensary, signed consents, and uploaded documents live on the patient's record — visible to them and to their care team.

Secure messaging with the care team

Direct chat threads with their clinician and the practice. No personal-phone sprawl, no “just call the front desk” for every small question.

Bills and payments in the open

Outstanding balances and invoices are visible in the portal, with secure online payment — so statements and surprise charges stop showing up in the mail.

Between-visit tasks and journaling

Interview questionnaires to finish before the visit, food journal entries, and care tasks from their clinician — all in one place, gently surfaced.

Responsive on every device

A modern web app that feels at home on phone, tablet, and laptop — without a separate download or another account to manage.

03 · What the patient sees

A day in the life of the portal.

  1. Invited and onboarded

The patient is invited by email and lands on a sign-up flow tied to their record — no separate account to reconcile.
  2. Intake and consents, before the visit

The interview the clinician assigned runs as a chat in the portal; consents are reviewed and signed. Everything lands back on the chart before the visit.
  3. During and after the visit

Telehealth visits join directly from the portal. Lab orders, supplement protocols, and any documents shared by the team appear on the record.
  4. Between visits

Journal prompts, care tasks, and messages from the team. The portal stays warm without demanding attention.

I went from calling my old clinic and sitting on hold to doing everything in one app. I know when my next visit is, I can see my results, and I don't miss the phone.

04 · In practice

What it changes for your practice.

Solo clinician, no portal today

First working digital relationship with your patients.

For solo clinicians moving off paper, the portal is often the first digital touchpoint a patient has with them. First impressions hold.

Small group

One account per patient, across the team.

Whoever the patient sees inside your practice, the portal stays the same. No duplicate accounts to reconcile.

Functional medicine

Journaling and habits meet the care plan.

Food journal entries surface to the clinician alongside labs and supplement protocols. Between-visit care stops being guesswork.

Behavioral health

A calm, quiet home for a sensitive relationship.

Low-contrast, low-noise UI and tightly scoped messaging make the portal feel supportive rather than demanding.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can patients access it without installing an app?
Yes — the portal is a web app and runs in any modern browser on phone or laptop. There's nothing to download.
Do you have native iOS / Android apps?
Not today — we're deliberate about that. Keeping the portal on the web lets us ship improvements quickly and avoids a separate store-approval loop. Native apps are on the roadmap; PWA-style install is being considered too.
Can patients connect wearables or outside records?
Patients and staff can upload documents and outside PDFs to the record. Direct integrations with Apple Health, Google Fit, or wearables aren't part of today's feature set.
How do you handle accessibility?
We design for high contrast, readable typography, and keyboard-navigable flows. Formal WCAG conformance claims we're not ready to make yet — if accessibility compliance is a procurement requirement, tell us and we'll walk you through our current state honestly.
Can we brand the portal with our logo and colors?
Not today. Your patients see a consistent Ona portal tied to your practice's name and booking link. Deeper white-labeling is a roadmap conversation.
