Memberships & Packages

Membership billing and treatment packages, built into your EHR

Ona Memberships is membership billing built into the EHR: monthly or yearly plans charged to the patient's card through your own Stripe account, with the visits, packages and extras each plan includes counted as they're used. Patients join from your booking page or the patient portal, and packages sell a set of visits for one price.

Ona Memberships is the membership billing and package module inside Ona, the AI-native practice management platform that combines a CRM, EHR, and RCM. Plans bill the patient's saved card every month or year through your own Stripe account, and the visits a plan includes are counted against every booking, so nobody counts sessions on a spreadsheet.

It's built for direct primary care, med spas, wellness, and functional medicine practices — anyone selling ongoing care or a course of treatment for one price — and it shares the patient record with scheduling, invoices, and the patient portal.

01 · Why it matters

Recurring revenue shouldn't need a second system.

When the plan, the card, and the visit live in different tools, someone has to keep them in sync by hand.

Membership and package practices often run the recurring billing in one tool and the visits in another. Someone has to remember who has sessions left, whose payment failed, and which visit a package already paid for.

In Ona the plan, the card, and the visit are one record. A covered visit counts against the plan when it's booked, the patient sees the visits they have left in the patient portal, and each payment shows up as a paid invoice.

02 · What you get

Everything a membership program needs.

Monthly or yearly plans

Set a price, bill monthly or yearly, and choose whether the plan runs until cancelled or ends on its own after a set number of payments, from 2 to 120.

Included visits and extras

Include services, whole packages, or custom items like a supplement box. Each refills every period or once in total, and unused visits don't carry over.

Visits draw down on booking

Book a service a plan or package covers and the visit counts against it. The visit shows how many sessions are used and how many remain.

Patients join online

Show a plan on your booking page so patients join and book their first visit in one go, or let them join from the patient portal with their saved card.

Packages for one price

Bundle several visits, such as six IV sessions, at a package price. Patients buy them on your booking page, paying up front when you mark the package pay-to-book.

Promo codes for launches

Discount a membership's first payment or every payment, or take money off a package, with an expiry date and a usage limit.
Enroll a patient from their chart; the card on file is charged now and at each renewal.

03 · How it works

From plan to paid visit.

  1. Connect Stripe and turn memberships on

Memberships bill through your own Stripe account. Turn them on under Settings → Billing → Memberships once Stripe can take charges.
  2. Create the plan

On the Services page, choose New membership. Set the price, the billing interval, when it ends, and what's included, and preview it as patients will see it.
  3. Patients join

From your booking page, from the patient portal, or with Enroll in a membership on their chart. The first payment is taken when they join.
  4. Covered visits draw down

When a member books a service the plan covers, the visit counts against it. Each payment is recorded as a paid invoice, such as “Gold membership · payment 2 of 6.”
  5. Cancel or retire cleanly

Staff or the patient can cancel at the end of the current period or right away. Archive a plan to stop new sign-ups; current members keep their rate.

04 · In practice

Recurring care, priced your way.

Direct primary care

A monthly fee that covers the visits.

A monthly plan includes a set number of office visits each period, refilled after every payment, with Ona tracking how many are left.

Medical spa

Packages and memberships side by side.

Sell a package of treatments and a monthly membership on the same booking page, with a promo code for the launch.

Functional medicine

A program paid over six months.

A plan that ends after six payments includes the program's visits once in total, so the course is paid over time without an installment plan on an invoice.

Wellness clinic

Extras listed on the plan.

Custom items like an IV drip or a body scan sit on the membership next to its visits, so the member and your team can see what the plan includes.

FAQ

Common membership questions.

Can Ona bill patients for a monthly membership?
Yes. Membership plans bill the patient's card monthly or yearly through your own Stripe account. Every payment is recorded as a paid invoice on the patient's record, and the plan's included visits are counted as they're booked.
What can a membership include?
Services, packages, and custom items. Each has a quantity and refills every period or once in total. Unused visits don't carry over to the next period.
Can a membership end after a fixed number of payments?
Yes. Choose After a set number of payments and pick between 2 and 120. It's how practices sell a program paid over time; Ona doesn't offer installment plans on a single invoice.
How do patients sign up for a membership?
Turn on Show on booking page and patients join while booking their first visit. They can also join from Memberships in the patient portal, or staff can enroll them from the chart with Enroll in a membership. A card on file is needed.
What happens when a membership payment fails?
The membership shows Past due on the patient's record and in the plan's member list, and a membership behind on payment doesn't cover new bookings until it's settled.
Can I change a plan's price?
Yes. A new price or billing interval applies to new members only, and current members keep their rate. Archive a plan to stop new sign-ups without ending existing memberships.
What's the difference between a package and a membership?
A package is a one-time purchase of a set of visits at a package price, used up as they're booked. A membership bills on a schedule and can include services, packages, and custom items that refill each period.
Do I need Stripe for memberships?
Yes. Memberships and online package payments run on your own Stripe Express account, and Ona takes no cut of what you collect.
