Labs & Supplements

Supplement dispensary and lab orders, in the chart.

Ona's Labs & Supplements is a supplement dispensary and lab-ordering tool built into the EHR. Order labs and build supplement protocols through an embedded Fullscript dispensary on the patient chart, where order status and results sync back beside a structured medications list — so nothing lives in a separate tab.

  • Embedded Fullscript dispensary
  • Lab orders from the chart
  • Supplement protocols
  • Structured medications list

Labs and Supplements turns three disconnected tools — a lab-ordering platform, a supplement dispensary, and a medication list — into one view on the patient record. You connect a Fullscript account once per workspace, and the dispensary becomes available on every patient with a valid email. Orders, results, and a structured medications list all sit on the same chart.

It's built for integrative and functional medicine practices, naturopathic doctors, and dietitians who order out-of-pocket lab panels and dispense or recommend supplements, then need that history in one legible picture. It fits solo clinics and group practices that today juggle a dispensary in one tab and the chart in another.

01 · Why it matters

Orders belong with the chart.

When labs, supplement plans, and the med list live in different apps, context and continuity both get lost.

Every extra tool is a seam where information goes missing. A lab result buried in one portal, a supplement protocol emailed from another, a medication list that only lives in the clinician's head.

Ona keeps all three on the patient record. The dispensary is embedded — not a separate login — and the medications section sits beside labs and supplements in the same clinical view.

02 · Why Ona

One record, three stories.

One patient record

Lab orders, supplement protocols, and the medications list live on the same chart instead of scattered PDFs you reconcile later.

Part of an all-in-one platform

Labs and Supplements is one of 19 tools on Ona, an AI-native, all-in-one practice management platform that combines CRM, EHR, and RCM.

Prescribing sits right next door

Embedded DoseSpot e-prescribing, including EPCS, runs from the same chart — so ordering, dispensing, and prescribing share one record.

Honest about scope

Automated drug-interaction and dose checks are not part of Labs and Supplements today. Interaction and allergy flags do appear inside the DoseSpot e-prescribing flow.

Supplement protocols on the chart

Build and send treatment plans from the same dispensary sheet. The protocol lives on the chart, not in a third-party email.

Results and status, synced

Lab results and order status sync back to the Labs tab on the record, so you review them where you already work — across visits, not just this one.

03 · How it flows

From the visit to the record.

  1. Connect Fullscript once

One connection per workspace; the dispensary activates on every patient record with a valid email. No per-clinician wiring.
  2. Open the dispensary from the chart

The embedded Fullscript sheet opens directly from the patient's Labs or Supplements tab — no second app.
  3. Order labs or build the protocol

Use Fullscript's catalog, pricing, and coverage to pick labs or supplements, set the plan, and send it to the patient.
  4. Status and results sync back

Order status and incoming results land in the Labs tab on the record, so you review them where you already work.
  5. Keep the medication list beside it

A structured medications list sits next to the Labs and Supplements tabs; add medications manually during or after the visit so the picture stays complete.

I stopped juggling Fullscript in one tab and the chart in another. The order goes where the patient lives — and when the result comes back, it's already where I'll look.

04 · In practice

Made for integrative workflows.

Functional medicine

Speciality labs and protocols side by side.

Integrative primary care

Results where the clinician actually looks.

Results sync back to the Labs tab on the patient — no checking a separate dashboard before every visit.

Nutrition & wellness

Supplement plans without a second tool.

Recommend, send, and track supplement protocols through Fullscript without leaving the patient record.

Group practice

One dispensary connection, every clinician.

Connect Fullscript once at the workspace level; everyone on the team uses the same embedded flow on every patient.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is a supplement dispensary platform?
It is software that lets a practitioner recommend, order, and track supplement protocols for patients in one place. In Ona, the dispensary is embedded on the patient chart through Fullscript, so protocols and order status live on the record rather than in a separate tool.
Can I order labs in the chart?
Yes. You place lab orders from the embedded dispensary on the patient chart, and order status and results sync back to the Labs tab on that same record.
How does the Fullscript dispensary work in Ona?
Labs and supplements run through an embedded Fullscript dispensary. You connect a Fullscript account once per workspace, and the dispensary activates on every patient with a valid email; which labs you can order follows your Fullscript catalog.
Does Ona e-prescribe medications?
Yes — Ona embeds DoseSpot directly in the chart, including EPCS for controlled substances with DEA-compliant two-factor signing. From the Labs & Rx tab you can jump straight into the prescribing flow alongside the supplement protocol. See the e-prescribing feature for the full workflow.
Where do lab orders and results live?
On the patient record. The Labs tab shows orders and results, and a structured medications list sits beside the Labs and Supplements tabs on the same chart. Both sync from Fullscript, so you don't have to check a separate dashboard.
Does Ona check for drug interactions on supplements?
Automated interaction and dose checks are not part of the Labs and Supplements feature set today. Interaction and allergy flags do appear at the point of signing inside Ona's DoseSpot e-prescribing flow.
