New optional charting sections, and Ona Assistant beside your work
New optional charting sections for hospital stays, surgeries, family and social history, OB/GYN history and vaccines, with Ona suggesting what it hears. Ask Ona Assistant to dig up any record, and keep it docked beside your work. Plus: mark as unread, recordings that survive a crash, and no dead end after a form.

Charting
The whole backstory, in new optional charting sections
There are seven of them, all off until you switch them on under Settings → Charting → Charting Sections: Hospitalizations, Surgical history, Family history, Social history, OB/GYN history, Vaccines and Reason for visit. Turn on the ones your practice actually asks about. History belongs to the patient, so the chart's Summary and every visit share one list, and nobody types in the same gallbladder twice. Reason for visit is kept per visit, and the chart lists the Recent visit reasons. Vaccines are coded with CDC CVX, including ones given elsewhere or politely declined.
Ona takes the history, you have the last word
When Ona charts a visit, an intake form or an interview, the history it picks up arrives as a suggestion. A new hospital stay, surgery, relative or vaccine waits with a sparkle until you Confirm or Dismiss it. For social and OB/GYN history, Ona tells you what it changed, such as "Ona updated tobacco and alcohol.", and Dismiss puts the earlier answers back. Ona only fills the sections you've turned on, so it won't start a family tree you didn't ask for.
Also in charting
- Your sections, your order. Drag the rows under Settings → Charting → Charting Sections into the order the chart and visits should use. Changed your mind? Default order puts them back.
- Procedures moved in. The Procedures switch now lives on Charting Sections with the others, with a link to your Procedure templates once it's on. The separate Procedures settings page is gone.

Ona Assistant
Ask Ona to dig it up
Open Ona Assistant from the bottom-right corner of the dashboard and ask the way you'd ask a colleague: which visits are coming up this week, which faxes are still unread, which claims got denied. Ona searches patients, visits, faxes, referrals, claims and invoices, and answers with links that open the record in place, with the Assistant still open. It only reads, so it can't book, send, sign or change anything, however nicely you ask. Clinicians only see their own visits and the patients they can open.
Pull up a chair for Ona
Choose Open in side panel in the Assistant's header and Ona docks to the right of whatever you're working on. It already knows what's on your screen: the fax, claim, referral or note you have open, or the part of the chart you're in, so there's nothing to copy and paste. What it can see shows as a chip above the message box, which you can remove. Open in floating window sends it back to its corner.
Also in Ona Assistant
- Ask about a passage. Select text in a draft note and choose Ask to bring it to the Assistant as a quote. The note stays exactly as it was.
Improved
Omnichannel
Unread, on purpose
Opened a conversation too early? Choose Mark as unread from its menu, or press U, and it waits for you as if you'd never seen it. Mark all as read in the list's toolbar clears the lot in one go. Read and unread are yours alone, so your teammates keep their own. The list's filter is now a single Unread toggle.
Also in omnichannel
- Texts counted the way carriers count them. The counter under a text now shows the real limit: 1,530 characters, or 670 once a single emoji or another character outside the SMS alphabet sneaks in. Hover it to see how many parts it goes out in. Curly quotes and long dashes quietly become plain ones, so they no longer eat into the limit, and a text that's too long can't be sent. The templates under Settings → Notifications warn you the same way.
Improved
Visits
Recordings that survive a crash
Browser gave up mid-visit? While you record an in-person visit, Ona keeps the audio in your browser until it's saved. If the upload fails, the page reloads or the browser closes, the recording is waiting in the recording bar the next time you open the dashboard in the same browser, ready to Save recording or Discard. Signing out or wandering off mid-recording keeps it too.
Improved
Consents and forms
No dead end after the last question
When a patient finishes a form, consent or interview from an emailed link, the last screen now lists what else they have open, starting with the same visit. One button starts the next one, such as Start next form, so there's no waiting for another email. They can also Sign in to your patient portal from there.
And more
Sign-up
- Confirmation emails from your practice. When someone signs up on your booking page or another of your patient pages, or accepts an invitation to your team, the email asking them to confirm their address now comes in your practice's name, with your logo and colors. Before, it came from Ona, a name your patients may never have heard.
Fixed
- Merging patients. Merge records in Potential duplicate patients now moves everything on the duplicate chart, including visits, conversations, calls, claims, credits and lab orders. Before, some of it got left behind on the archived chart. Stragglers from earlier merges are moved over too.
- Unread badge. The Omnichannel badge now counts only conversations waiting for you. Before, notes and archived conversations could keep it lit with nothing left to read.
- Height and weight in DoseSpot. DoseSpot now gets the patient's latest height and weight from their vitals. Before, it only got what was typed on their profile.
- Mentions in a new note. Mentioning someone in a new note and choosing Add and send now sends one note. Before, you also got a bonus empty one.
