Ona's built-in telehealth is browser video that belongs to the visit, inside Ona, the AI-native practice management platform. Set a visit to Video call and it gets two links, yours and the patient's. The patient joins from their booking email, a reminder or the patient portal in a modern browser, with no download and no account.
It's built for hybrid and telehealth-first practices in behavioral health, women's health, nutrition, primary care, and functional and integrative medicine that want remote visits recorded, charted and billed the same way as in-person ones, without a separate video tool. A visit, not a meeting.
Every tab-hop during a virtual visit is a tiny loss of attention. Patients notice.
When video lives in a separate tool, someone has to create the meeting, send the link, remember which call belongs to which patient, and carry the conversation back into the chart afterward. None of that is care, and all of it is easy to get wrong.
In Ona the video call is a mode of the visit. The links come from the visit, the recording lands on the visit, and the chart, note and claim are the same ones you use in person.

One setting per visit, on by default, records each participant's microphone on its own track. The transcript feeds the visit Summary, suggested records and the note.
Charted and billed like any visit
Vitals, notes, prescriptions and billing work the same as in person. Video visits default to place-of-service 10 on the claim, and a service can set its own code.

Common questions about video visits.
What is built-in telehealth?
Built-in telehealth means video visits run inside your practice management platform instead of a separate app. In Ona a video call is a mode of the visit: the links come from the visit, and the recording, note and claim land on that same visit.
Do patients need to download an app or create an account?
No. Patients join from their link in a modern browser on a computer or phone. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
How does the waiting room work?
The patient opens their link, allows the microphone (the camera is optional), previews their video and can pick a background. Joining opens five minutes before the scheduled start and stays open until 30 minutes after the visit's scheduled end. There is no separate admit step.
Is Ona telehealth HIPAA compliant?
Calls are encrypted in transit, recordings are encrypted at rest, and every practice signs Ona's BAA when the workspace is created. The video runs inside Ona, not on a consumer meeting app.
Can we record telehealth visits?
Yes. Each video visit has a recording setting, on by default. Each participant's microphone is recorded and transcribed for the visit. Changing the setting during a call reconnects everyone through the same link.
Can I chart while I'm on the call?
Yes. The call opens in its own tab, and in browsers that support it, picture-in-picture keeps the patient in a small window while you work in the visit. Chat messages in the call are not saved to the record.
Do you support group visits?
Not today. A video visit is one clinician and one patient, and there is no group or shared medical appointment format.
How are telehealth visits billed?
Like any other visit. Video visits default to place-of-service code 10 on the claim, and a service can carry its own code.
