Ona Health
Telehealth

Telehealth built into the chart.

Secure video visits with a waiting room, one-click join, and recording. No third-party apps, no pasting links — the visit opens the chart.

  • Encrypted video (LiveKit)
  • Waiting room with pre-flight checks
  • One-click join from the visit
  • Browser-only, no downloads

Most “telehealth” setups are a Zoom link, a consent form, and a prayer that the PDF someone emails back ends up in the chart. It works — the way duct tape works.

Ona's video is built into the visit. Open the consultation, click join, and you're on an encrypted call. When the visit ends, the consultation, any transcript, and the AI-drafted note live in the same place — not in three tabs.

Telehealth
Join from the consultation. Patient joins from a link in their email — no account, no app install.

01 · Why it matters

A visit, not a meeting.

Every tab-hop during a virtual visit is a tiny loss of attention. Patients notice.

When the video lives in a separate tool from the chart, the clinician splits their attention between the patient on screen and the right window to type into. Nothing about that scales — and the polish you lose is exactly what made telehealth feel good in the first place.

Stitching the call into the consultation changes the shape of the visit. You can watch and work in the same window, and the note gets written as you go rather than after.

02 · What you get

Video that lives inside the visit.

Encrypted, browser-based video

Built on LiveKit — runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile. No downloads, no account creation for the patient, no app-store detour.

Waiting room with pre-flight checks

The patient grants mic and camera access, sees a live preview, and waits for the scheduled start. A running countdown means fewer “is this working?” texts.

One-click join from the consultation

The join button lives on the consultation record next to the note. No hunting for a link, no pasting into a browser — from “next patient” to face-on-screen in seconds.

Patient link, your choice of channel

Copy the patient meeting link and send it however you already communicate — the booking confirmation email, a message, the portal. No separate telehealth invite system to maintain.

Pair with the AI scribe

Record the visit audio (with consent) and Ona transcribes it and drafts a structured note from it. You look at the patient instead of typing; review and sign after.

Consent-aware recording

Recording is opt-in per visit, stored alongside the consultation, and access-controlled with the rest of the chart. It's never used to train models.

03 · A visit, end to end

From link to sign-off.

  1. Patient gets a link they don't have to learn

The meeting link goes out in the booking confirmation — no download, no login, no app. A single click opens the waiting room in their browser.
  2. Waiting room + pre-flight checks

The patient grants mic/camera, sees their own preview, and waits for the scheduled start. The Join button unlocks once they're set and the time arrives.
  3. You join from the consultation

Video opens from the same record as the note. Screen-share, image review, and chat are in-call. The consultation, interview template, and history sit alongside.
  4. Call ends, your note is half-written

If you recorded, Ona transcribes and drafts a structured note from the conversation. Review, edit, sign. The note and any follow-up tasks stay on the consultation.

The first time I did a video visit in Ona I almost cried. I'd been juggling three apps for two years — this was just one page, and the note was already most of the way written.

04 · In practice

Telehealth, for the way you actually work.

Therapy + psychiatry

Every session, in one place.

Video, the consultation note, and the patient's history in one window. Use an interview template for structured assessments and keep the narrative in your own voice.

Functional & integrative medicine

90-minute initials without five tabs.

Screen-share a lab report, walk the patient through it, and keep the note open on the side. Any supplement recommendations flow through to Fullscript from the same visit.

Coaches & allied health

Check-ins that feel professional.

A proper video room with a waiting area — not a personal Zoom link — with the consultation record attached to it.

Follow-up care

Faster than a phone tag loop.

Short virtual follow-ups with a link that's already in the patient's inbox. No new invites, no setup chatter — they click and they're in.

FAQ

Common technical questions.

Will my patients need to install anything?
No. Our video runs in any modern browser — Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox — on desktop and mobile. If the patient can load their email, they can take a visit.
Is this actually HIPAA-grade?
The call is encrypted end-to-end, a BAA is signed at onboarding, and every session is access-logged. Recordings are stored in your tenant with the rest of the chart; we never use patient audio to train models.
Can patients join from a phone?
Yes — full audio and video in a mobile browser. Patients don't need an Ona account or an app for a one-time visit.
How does the waiting room work?
The patient opens the link, grants mic/camera, and sees a live preview. A countdown runs to the scheduled start; once the time hits and their mic is working, Join unlocks. There isn't a separate “admit patient” step on the clinician side today — the rails keep them from joining early.
Do you support group visits or shared medical appointments?
Today's consultation model is 1:1 (one clinician, one patient). We don't currently ship purpose-built group visits or shared medical appointments; if that's core to your practice we'd like to hear about it before you commit.
Can we record the visit?
You can record the audio of the call (consent-gated) to power the AI scribe, and the recording is stored on the consultation. Full-video recording isn't the default — if you need it, let's talk through the use case and retention rules.
What about low-bandwidth patients?
LiveKit adapts stream quality to the network automatically. In practice, visits stay connected as audio if the video can't sustain — so the conversation keeps going and the note still lands in the chart.
