Choosing which charting sections appear

Ona ships with nine charting sections. Not every practice needs all of them, and an unused section is clutter on every patient record and every visit. This page controls which ones appear.

The Charting page

Go to Settings → Charting — "choose which charting sections appear in the patient record and visit canvas".

Each row is a section with a one-line description and a toggle:

• Vitals — blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight, and other vital signs.
• Diagnoses — ICD-coded conditions tracked on the patient record.
• Observations — clinical observations and measurements outside the core vitals.
• Allergies — allergies and intolerances, including no-known-allergies status.
• Medications — current and past medications on the patient record.
• Recommendations — care recommendations and follow-up guidance for the patient.
• Notes — generated and hand-written clinical notes.
• Procedures — aesthetic injections and minor procedures with photos, injection-site diagrams, and CPT codes.
• Media — photos and other media attached to the patient chart.

Eight are on by default. Procedures is the exception — it's off unless you turn it on.

Turning Procedures on

If your practice does aesthetic injections or minor procedures, switch Procedures on. It adds photo capture, injection-site diagrams, and CPT codes to the chart.

If you've wondered why Procedures doesn't appear on a visit, this is why. The section is hidden until enabled here.

Turning sections off

Switching a section off removes it from the patient record and the visit canvas for everyone in the organization. A practice that never records vitals — talk therapy, say — can hide Vitals and stop scrolling past seven empty readings on every visit.

Two things to weigh before switching something off:

It's organization-wide. There is no per-clinician or per-service override here. If one clinician needs Diagnoses and another doesn't, leave it on.

Existing data isn't deleted. Hiding a section removes it from view. Turn it back on and the previously recorded entries are still there.

Be careful with sections that feed billing. Diagnoses supplies the ICD-10 codes that go onto claims, so hiding it in a practice that bills insurance will cause problems downstream.
