Your website and online scheduling

Turn on your public welcome page and booking pages so patients schedule themselves — and see which settings they pull from.

Scheduling & visits3 min readUpdated

Ona gives your practice a public face: a welcome page that introduces you, and booking pages where patients schedule themselves. Both are toggled on or off here, and both pull from settings you've already filled in elsewhere.

Welcome page

The Welcome Page is how your organization appears to patients. Enable welcome page turns it on; the note warns that "when off, visitors to your welcome page are redirected to sign-in" — so an unpublished practice sends visitors straight to login.

Fill in what patients see:

  • Tagline — a brief description or motto, e.g. "Expert care for healthcare".
  • Specialties — add the areas you practise, e.g. Endometriosis. Use Add for each.
  • Contact Email — the primary address for patient inquiries.

View landing page opens the live page so you can see exactly what a visitor sees.

Write the tagline and specialties for a patient choosing a provider, not for a search engine. This is often the first thing a prospective patient reads, and it pulls double duty — the specialties here also help patients find the right clinician.

Booking pages

Booking Pages let "patients book appointments through your public booking pages." Enable booking pages turns them on. When off, "visitors to your booking pages are redirected away, and the welcome page hides its booking buttons" — so switching this off cleanly removes self-scheduling everywhere, not just the booking URL.

What the booking page draws on

Online scheduling isn't configured separately — it assembles from settings you already have:

  • Services supply the bookable appointment types, each with its duration and its own booking rules (buffer, notice, how far ahead). See Setting up services.
  • Clinician availability decides which slots are open. See Setting up your calendar & availability.
  • Locations and profiles supply the where and the who.

So if a slot isn't appearing on the public booking page, the fix is usually upstream — a service's booking rules or a clinician's availability — not this page. This page only decides whether the booking pages are switched on at all.

Alongside the practice-wide booking page, each clinician has a personal booking link (shown on their dashboard as "Your Booking Page"). That link books directly with that one practitioner, which is handy to hand to a specific patient, whereas the public page here presents the whole practice.
