Reviewing AI revisions and proposals in a note

AI revisions are available while you edit an unsigned generated note in a patient or visit Notebook. Ask Ona to work on one field or passage at a time, then resolve the proposal before you ask for another change.

How do I review an AI suggestion in a draft note?

In the left sidebar, click Patients, click the patient's name, then click Notebook. Select the unsigned draft note you want to edit. Use the proposal row to decide what happens to Ona's suggested change.

When Ona returns a suggestion, the suggested text appears in the note with a decision row labeled Ona's suggestion. If Ona would leave the text as it is, the row says Nothing to change.

1. Read the suggested change in the note.
2. Select Keep to accept it.
3. Select Discard to return that field or passage to how it was before the suggestion.
4. If the row says Nothing to change, select OK to close the message.
5. Continue editing, then save the draft or start signing when the note is ready.

Resolve the proposal before asking Ona for another change.

How do I ask Ona to fill an empty AI field again?

In the left sidebar, click Patients, click the patient's name, then click Notebook. Select the unsigned draft note. Empty AI fields can appear when the template asked Ona to fill something, but Ona did not find enough information in the record.

1. Select the empty AI field in the draft note.
2. Review the message Left empty by Ona.
3. Select Try again to ask Ona to fill that field from the record.
4. Review the proposal that appears under the field.
5. Select Keep, Discard or OK.

You can also select Write by hand. That removes the empty AI field and leaves your cursor in its place so you can type the content yourself.

How do I regenerate or clear AI-written text?

In the left sidebar, click Patients, click the patient's name, then click Notebook. Select the unsigned draft note. Use these controls when an AI-filled field needs a fresh version, cleaner wording or manual editing.

1. Click inside the AI-written text you want to review.
2. Select Regenerate to ask Ona for a new version.
3. Select Polish if the content is right but you want Ona to improve the wording.
4. Select Clear if you want to remove Ona's text and write your own.
5. If Ona shows a proposal, select Keep or Discard.

How do I polish text I wrote myself?

In the left sidebar, click Patients, click the patient's name, then click Notebook. Select the unsigned draft note. Use Polish for selected wording inside one paragraph.

1. Select text inside one paragraph.
2. In the formatting bubble, select Polish.
3. Review the proposed wording in the note.
4. Select Keep to accept it, or Discard to put the original wording back.

Polish is available only for selected text inside one paragraph. It is not available for a selection that crosses paragraphs, includes an AI field or is already waiting on a proposal.

How do AI proposals affect saving and signing?

In the left sidebar, click Patients, click the patient's name, then click Notebook. Select the unsigned draft note. Before you save or sign, resolve any visible proposal row.

Keep makes the suggestion part of the draft you can save or sign. Discard removes the suggestion and restores the previous content for that target. If Ona says Nothing to change, OK closes the message without changing the note.

When you sign a draft note, unsaved edits are saved first and then the note is signed. Signing locks the note as part of the record.

What can't I do here?

AI revisions in notes are limited in these ways:

• You cannot ask Ona for revisions on a signed note from the note editor.
• You cannot start another AI request while one suggestion is waiting for Keep, Discard or OK.
• You cannot use Polish unless the selection is text inside one paragraph.
• You cannot polish a selection that contains an AI field.

Common questions

What does Left empty by Ona mean?

It means the template included an AI field, but Ona did not find information in the record to fill it. You can select Try again or choose Write by hand.

Is a suggestion saved automatically?

No. A suggestion is shown in the editor so you can review it. Choose Keep before saving or signing if you want it included.

What happens if I select Discard?

Ona removes the proposed change and returns that field or passage to how it was before the suggestion.

Can I use these tools after signing?

No. AI revision controls are available while editing an unsigned draft note. After signing, use the amendment workflow for corrections.

What if Ona has nothing to improve?

The proposal row says Nothing to change and may include a short explanation. Select OK to close it.
