BehaviorWhat it means
Shortcuts are page-awareThe popover lists only shortcuts that are currently registered and enabled on the page you are using.
Single-key shortcuts usually pause while typingKeys such as J, K, and / do not normally fire while your cursor is in a field.
Modifier shortcuts usually still work while typingShortcuts that use Command or Ctrl, such as save, can still run while focus is in a field, but a page can opt out. For example, ⌘B or Ctrl+B does not run while you are typing.
The save shortcut follows the visible save bar⌘S or Ctrl+S acts on the visible Unsaved changes save bar. If its Save button is disabled, the shortcut does nothing.
Most page shortcuts pause in overlaysWhen a dialog, menu, or popover is open, page shortcuts usually stand down so keys can act inside that overlay.
Some shortcuts are overlay-safeA shortcut can stay active in overlays when the page uses it that way, such as ?.
A held key can repeatShortcuts repeat while a key is held unless that shortcut disables repeat behavior.
One action can have more than one keyWhen two keys do the same thing, such as J and ↓, the popover shows both for the same action.
