Commission tracking and reports
Set commission rates for team members, review rate history, and open the Commissions report to track clinician earnings from collected visit amounts.
Use Commissions to pay team members a percentage of what the practice collects for visits they perform. On the same settings page, you can change rates over time and open the Commissions report.
How do I set or change a member's commission rate?
In the left sidebar, click Settings (at the bottom). In the settings menu, under Team, click Commissions. On the Commissions settings page, enter a percentage for each member who should earn commission. Members are grouped into a clinician section and, when needed, a separate section for everyone else. If a member is marked Former member, they are no longer active.
- Find the member you want to update.
- Enter the percentage on that member's row.
- Repeat for any other members you want to update.
- Click Save rates.
After the save finishes, the new rate becomes that member's current rate.
A changed rate applies to visits from today on, so past months keep their figures. If this is the first rate you set for someone, that rate also covers their earlier visits.
If a member has had more than one rate, their row also shows a history summary, such as a current rate since a date and an earlier rate before that. Use that line to confirm when the current rate started.
If your organization has no members with the clinician role, the clinician section shows an empty state instead of member rows.
How do I stop paying commission for a member?
On the same page, clear a rate when future visits should no longer earn commission for that member.
- Find the member you want to update.
- Clear the percentage on that member's row.
- Click Save rates.
After the save finishes, that member no longer has a commission rate, and the change applies to visits from today on.
How do I use the Commissions report?
On the same page, click Commissions report to review clinician earnings from collected visit amounts for a selected period. Use Report period (1) to choose the dates you want to review, and the Commissions report title (2) confirms the report you're viewing.
- Click Commissions report.
- Use Report period to choose the dates you want to review.
- Review the report for clinician earnings in that period.
The report refreshes for the dates you selected.
If the report does not load, click Try again. For help reading report pages in general, see Reading reports.
What can't I do here?
In Commissions settings, access and rate entry are limited in these ways:
- Staff and clinicians cannot manage commission rates from Settings.
- A commission rate cannot be less than 0 or more than 100.
- A commission rate supports up to 2 decimal places.
- Changing a rate does not rewrite past months' figures.
Common questions
Why is someone marked Former member?
Former member means the team member is no longer active.
What does the rate history line mean?
It shows the current rate, when that rate started, and the rate that applied before it. The line only appears when the member has more than one rate period.
Do changed rates affect past months?
No. A changed rate applies from the day of the change forward, so past months keep their existing figures.
What happens if some rates do not save?
Each changed member saves separately. If some saves fail, Ona shows a message listing the members that were not saved so you can try again.
Why can't I manage commission settings?
Only owners and admins can manage commission rates from Settings.
